Loud Skimmer

Hey everyone,

I purchased a vertex omega 150 a few weeks back and I'm starting to encounter some issues. It was silent for the first two weeks of operation and now I can hear a noticeable humming. I took the pump apart but did not see anything obstructing it. Anyone have suggestions?

run the pump alone in a bucket with some vinegar and RO water?

Is the noise from the skimmer itself or from the pump? If it's a hum from the pump try piece of foam under the entire skimmer and pump. Make sure it's not touching anything like the side of your sump. Good luck!

I believe it is from the pump.

If it's hard plumbed with PVC, check if any pipes are vibrating on anything else...

could just be a bad pump. my sca was very loud but they replaced the pump and now its near silent.
