Had this for years and have misplaced the invoice. I am sure my old employer has it on a backup tape somewhere, but, yeah. Back then, the vendor would've been WWC or TSA and I had a habit of buying 1"frags in the $75 range. It is a beautiful table with fragile edges and nice PE. If you averaged the colors between the pic and the vid, it is darn close to what you see under AB+.

Sorry, but @C. Eymann has been correct before. I should sign up as a patron of yours. Send a link?

I don’t want to make this awkward, but he’s actually charging now. I’m taking an anemic 10% off the top, but that’s a conversation for another day. PayPal information to follow.

For every talent, there is a fee sucking agent that comes along...and I thought the internet was going to disintermediate.

As I am asking $12 USD, where should I direct your $1.20 (minus my processing/handling/agency/registration fees of $324.14 of course). :)

I’m backing out of this deal because of your unreasonable surcharges. You did this. YOU.

Fwiw if you can't find an ID, I think the backstory and LPA as a name has wheels for this piece. Maybe just call it that from now on.

Looks very similar to a red planet, but lighter in color. That's a nice colony...where did you score it?

Red Planet certainly rings a bell. I think you may be right. I recall buying one.

It was one of my first acro frags when I set up my RSR 525 some 6-7 years ago. That one, some Bali slimer and the tricolor valida. The classics.

@jda can tell you for sure.

I don't identify named corals since it is just so hard unless it just stand out like a sore thumb - if you lost the receipt, better to have no name than to sell/trade something that is wrong. Does it look like A. Hyacinthus? I do not know for sure. Red planet is well known for the white growth edges. It will get some green in the shadows or bottom under lower light. It will be all red under high intensity lighting.

Thank you for guiding me in the right direction. Looking at a bunch of images, I am certain it is A. Hyacinthus.

As for specifically being Red Planet I am less certain. Those images have a lot more green than this colony has. There is some but you really have to look for it.

There were so many that were imported, it is just impossible to know which name it got unless you saved it. WWC was naming, chopping and dumping so many, that most got a name and were never heard from again. You might be able to get an ID from TSA since they seem to have more of a connection with their stuff. Red Planet is a ORA coral and nearly every other vendor that sells it remembers to put the ORA on it (at least back then). Sorry. Tables are cool, especially as they grow and table out. My help is free, even though few seem to like it - I cannot tell if you all were kidding or not about somebody charging to identify corals... so please forgive me if I missed the joke.

Just a short comment on that, I think a lot of people don't seem to like your advice because they're usually asking about something they did wrong, and you don't hesitate to tell them exactly what they did wrong and what they should do to fix it, and you don't tell them that "they didn't do that much wrong" or "oh it's a common mistake." Just my two cents, I've always gotten good advice from you, even if it's not what I want to hear.

Are people really that fragile? He and others take their time to respond to questions to help people. Folks who need assistance shouldn’t be so demanding, entitled, temperamental or fragile.

@Scott b - I’m obviously not referring to you.

It was a (horrible) joke.

There is another potential theory of origin. I have a receipt from WWC a little over 2.5 years ago with a pic of "Hyper Pink Acropora". This colony is now 8" across so I was assuming it was a much earlier purchase from Divers Den, WWC or TSA. But the colony pic is a solid match. Who knows. Anyway, you are right. I have the scientific name now and that is really all that matters. Not trying to earn a living with my hobby, just cover the salt bill.

I made the joke about paying @C. Eymann as he has helped me identify some of these old colonies I was trying to move out. @Rick5 's response was funnier than my original joke, but I am deeply wounded he described my joke as horrible. Deeply.:)

Yeah, I saw that thread with the verbal tussle and was wondering "why is this devolving like this?" It is funny, I could not figure out where it all went South because two of the posters I must have "Ignored" at some point. Prescient.

The R2R community is by and large pretty great. I have developed a better sense over time about who to listen to (most) on a given subject matter. As a discerning consumer of information, I value your input @jda. Even when I don't want to hear it.

...not that we need to turn this thread into this, but I get a few PMs from babies and upset people (or have been reported to a mod). It is OK. I do not care. They like it even less when I tell them that I am not their mommy to tell them that they are perfect in every way or their 2nd grade soccer coach to hand out participation ribbons to everybody. Life is tough and if you need to have help spoon fed to you, you aren't going to make it very far. I had one tell me that they felt sorry for my kids, but my daughters are tough, thick skinned, smart and so far ahead of most of their coddled and babied young-adult friends (which they can see) that they would not want to have it any other way. They need to be all of these things since the world is harder for young women than it was for me as a white man...

We all have seen dumber stuff than people ask for payment for help, or move to youtube so that they can make some cash... so y'all can call me dense if you want to. My apologies for not getting the joke.

Agreed. @ScottB just ordered two bottles of Purple Up from Amazon.
