Loving my RO/DI Booster pump!

I recently got a 5 stage, 150gpd RO/DI from BRS during their sale. I would definitely go with the deluxe model since it includes a pressure gauge.... a necessity IMO. I am on city water with pretty good pressure... so I thought. Turns out I was only getting 40 psi when the recommended is 60-75. The water was just trickling out with the 40 psi. I just got the Aquatec 8800 from Amazon (nearly $40 bucks cheaper than BRS) and I am now getting 75 psi and the water is flowing like crazy. I am making 8 GPH.
Anyway, I thought I would give it a plug for anyone sitting on the fence about getting one. Money well spent. Just be sure to monitor the pressure when you first turn it on. It pegged the pressure gauge and I had to adjust the pressure down.
 
I have had one for the past 2 years and have yet to plumb it into my system!! I need to get off my lazy rear-end and install the thing.
 
I just got my 100gpd unit up and running last night and have produced water faster than even I thought it would. Holy cow it’s an upgrade from the RO Buddie. Loving the booster pump and smart controls this one is equipped with. Plug and play for sure.

Aside from production rate, any obvious improvement in reject rate? I think they are supposed to result in better efficiency.

When I went from 40psi to 90psi with my booster pump I saw my DI resin consumption decrease an insane amount. I went from changing it every 2 months to every 6 months or more. Which amounts to about every 250 ish gallons to between 750-1000 gallons produced. It paid for itself really quickly.
 
I have the same booster pump, I'm running at 90 psi on 2 100 GPD membranes in water saver setup, getting about 3 tds after the 2 membranes combine. 145 tds coming in. Huge improvement.
 
Next you should try a mixing valve and send 80F water to your RO/DI booster. That will gain you another 20% production and improve your rejection ratio by 0.5 or better.

wow, I feel fortunate. My tds before is around 10. Of course it is 0 after the di resin. I really thought my city water would have a much higher tds

10 after RO, or just 10 out the tap?

Warm water going into the ro membrane opens the pores and allows more stuff to pass through decreasing the rejection rate, but increases the production rate.

80 might not be too bad, but if you did this you'd want a thermostatic mixing valve, and the ones I found start from 85f.
