Just switched over from Red Sea Blue bucket to the Aquaforest Reef Salt. Getting a reading of 6.7 dkh with a Salifert kit at 1.026 SG. Paper in the bucket states the Alk is 8

No big deal to bump it up a bit ( run my tank at about 7.8dkh) and I prefer it too low than too high but just wondering if anybody else is testing lower than stated?

Just a guess here. Unless you are making an entire bucket of salt it is very difficult to match the bucket parameters. I think that it is just an improbable task to mix the salt where all the elements are dispersed evenly.

I rolled the bucket to mix it before opening. Just surprised it tested under 7 dkh

I have never had lower than 7.5 on the reef salt or the probiotics. It is usually 7.5-7.9 on every water change I have tested for the past 5 months with AF salts. I wonder what happened, I will be following along to see what the answers might be.

Hello,
Home tests are not as accurate as laboratory that's why we are adding a certificate of the batch of salt tested in the laboratory.

My Probiotic Salt has always been spot on. In on my 3rd bucket of use.

Thanks for the reply. What is the margin of error for the Laboratory Alkalinity test ?
