I test right away, using salifert kit, 1 ml to 100 gallon tank

On top op of the test kit box there is a expiry date. What does it say?

Actually when I test tap water it gives me 1 ppm but when I test my tank water gives me 0
And I got sodium silicate from eBay

Does the product give a concentration?

You can spike some into tank water or RO/DI and test to see if it is the right thing.

I got silicate the one u suggested and I tested it with 0 ppm with salifert and again I don't understand why it doesn't work for me

What exactly did you do to test it?

I use regular Instant Ocean.

First I diluted 1 ml of silicate in RO water and put it in to 100 gallon tank and tested it next day with 0 ppm result
Second I diluted silicate 10 ml in ro water 100 ml and tested it with 0 ppm nitrate
Third I tested 1 ml of tap water with salifert and it gave me 1 ppm.

So the second test was 10 mL sodium silicate solution in 100 mL of RO/DI?

That might be so high in silicate or have so high a pH that the silicate kit wouldn't work.

Perhaps Habib can comment. @Habib(Salifert)

In the tank, it might all be depleted in 24 h.
