low iron glass vs standard plate

For those of you that have owned or even really seen them to compare. I have been thinking that i may take my 90 gallon down. I would start a smaller tank say 40 gallon or less. That means less then 1/4" glass. Local fish store tells me on the small tanks there is really no visual difference. I am looking for unbiased opinions.

From what I have seen, is custom tank builder and some of the higher end tank are using more low iron glass in there systems. The low iron give a clearer view and the color pop more.

To me it is like when you look hd tvs
When you see them they both look great but when they are side by side you can see the difference. Now having a lowiron tank I don't think I can go back. When I see other tanks there is just somthing off, but when I had my normal glass tanks I couldn't tell the difference.

It doesn't make ad big a difference with1/4" glass, if you know you're upgrading, I'd go with a regular now, and a low iron for the bigger one. There is definitely a difference though, low iron really makes the tank pop

I have both a custom 120g starfire and a 60g cube regular. Something to consider is that low iron glass is still softer than regular glass is more prone to scratches. My 60 cube is now 5 years old with zero scratches. My 120 I'm very careful has a few minor ones. I use a Easy Blade glued to a Magfloat. As clear as starfire is, scratches are permanent.

My previous glass was normal float and with my reefer I can notice a big difference, everything is more clear. I use the tunze scraper and never had a scratch.
