Is it possible to setup a tank with a sump below it when you have about 14-15 inches of height?

I’m likely going to make a new diy entertainment center which will have more depth for a wider tank (front to back). My current entertainment center is only 16 wide.

I’m deciding whether I continue with hang on the backs, try to integrate the filtration with an all in one setup back wall, or if it’s even possible have a sump below the tank.

Here is my current setup so you can see how low it is.

It is possible depending on what you do with it. You have to allow enough room to get any equipment in or out of it. It will be very limiting. Perhaps just a refugium with an external return pump.

+1 you won’t get all the benefits of having a sump with limiting it’s height. Sumps main features are extra water volume, good skimmer, fuge, reactor space, controllable return pump, half those need some height to play with. Also fwiw after a few months the evaporating salt is going to totally screw that beautiful tv you have there. It looks amazing there, I see why you like it, just looking out for you, haha.

You beat me to it lol. I've destroyed two 55in 4K smart TVs that were above my bedroom saltwater tank looks cool but the TV won't last long. As for the sump idea if that's what you're set on you could have the sump offset from the tank on either left or right of it where you would have more room to fit a decent protein skimmer cool thing with a sump is it doesn't have to be directly under the tank that's just usually the easiest spot to put it

I tell the fish no running and jumping and certainly no cannonballs. I think that makes all the difference. Alright gotta go talk to my 15 cats.

Lol, but seriously. Thanks all for the tips. I’ve heard about TVs getting ruined. I had a tv above it for a year and a half without a problem...well until I hit it with a mop like an idiot and cracked the screen. I’d love a peninsula tank 65-90 long and low with sump. In which case I’d put next to the couch so you can still somewhat see it while watching tv. The only thing is the salesman takes out ky jelly and hands you a rooficolada when you start asking about pricing so I have to start running.

If there is a used rimless peninsula setup that’s 48 wide - 60L*16-22”W* 15-18”H at a non rapey price I’m all ears.
