My mag is 1000 and alk is 7doh would this cause my monti to run over a few days? I have 2 of the same pieces one on each side both grew very well had them a long time but one suddenly rtned over 3 days the other has no change is this the problem? I dosed 10ml mag for the first dose and raised the alk doseing days to get it back in line slowly but I don't want any more die off any help would be appreciated.

7 dKH certainly is not going too hurt anything since that is the alk of the ocean.

I'm suspicious the magnesium value is testing error. Can you describe the tank (how long set up, salt mix, corals). :)

The tank is over year old 125g this is also the first time I have done a water change with an actual rodi unit and mixing my own salt I used reef crystals
the test I'm using is the red sea one I have been testing with it for half a year I guess so I don't think it's error although I'm sure the reagents are getting old I did test again to make sure I dose fusion 1 and 2 cal was at about 480 alk around 7dkh

As for livestock I think I have at least 1 of everything lol

FWIW, a lot of people have problems with the Red Sea magnesium kit. Especially if magnesium rapidly changed (without a big water change), it is testing error. It changes very slowly.

i stopped using Red Sea mag test. I took two separate triton tests over the course of a few months and testing Red Sea mag and Salifert mag on the same day/time I took my triton water sample - the Red Sea was off considerably on both 50-60+. The Salifert was pretty on point and 1/10th of the time/effort to take. My 2 cents.
