I recently posted that I started using AFR and had to dose Magnesium alongside as it had dropped down to 1275. I upped the dosage last week from 40ml to 45ml per day in the hope it would help bring it back up. In the last week I've had 2 octospawn bail on me. 1 of them never looked that great since I got it and the head was only small so I wasn't overly worried. The other one was a big, puffy, happy looking thing until 2 days ago when that also bailed.
I checked all my perimeters which were as follows:
Kh = 9.0dkh (now been stable for 2 weeks since starting AFR)
Cal = 450
Mag = 1240
Phosphate = 0.07
Nitrate = 5
pH = 8.2
Salinity = 1.024

So my magnesium has still dropped more even though I've upped the dose. Could such low magnesium cause a bail out? I have 5 hammers, a large frogspawn and 3 torches who all look happy!

Also, how much can I dose magnesium to bring my system back up to good levels without going too much too soon?
I'm worried if it stays this low for too long I'll end up with other euphillya in trouble!

Maybe, although 1275 isn't super low (1350 is a typical range). Check the magnesium supplement you're using. It should have the numbers to calculate how much you need to go from x to y, and the maximum z that you can dose in a single day (I'd probably spread it out over several days).

I do not think this is at all likely because 1280 ppm is the worldwide ocean average for magnesium and 1275 ppm should not be considered any problem, IMO.
