I have a 65g with lps and some zoas. I'm using a Red Sea test kit to test the mg and an API to test the rest. My readings are:
Nitrate: 10
Phosph: .25
PH: 8.1
Cal: 480
Alk: 9
Mg: 800

Yesterday the mg was 840 and I added kent tech-m mag supplement yesterday. I added half the dose of what the bottle said and it went lower for some reason. I used a reef calculator online and it's saying to add 1757.7 ml of kent to bring it up to 1300! Does that seem right? If so how much is too much to add at a time? Thanks guys

You can bring levels up with 100ppm a day to be safe. Are you using the brs calculator?

It was a different calculator. I'll try the brs one. I just thought 1k of mg was a little over the top

Takes alot to get Mag to jump alittle bit on the numbers.

Got it. Once it's up, is it something I'm gonna be fighting constantly to keep at that level?

I use the brs alkalinity, calcium and magnesium in bulk and make my solution with ro water. This is a much cheaper way to go.

Cool. I'll try it out. Does mag fall rapidly like calcium or does it slowly start to diminish?

I've not seen Mag dop like Cal and Alk do. But it all depends on what you have in your tank also.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
