low magnesium

i'm dealing with Low magnesium. specs
60 galloon tank
hob skimmer
hob filter
alk 9.3
mag 1050
ca 440
PO4 .2
PH 8.0 or 8.2 can't tell the difference with my api test

I currently do not have salt but I do use reef crystal(instant ocean. ) might of been a bad batch. so ordered some more online waiting for it to arrive.

What Product can I pick up at my LFS to dose to get it up? not many options for LFS Petco is a name brand but do not like them that much. and some privately owned ones. what products should I be looking to get?

Brightwell magnesium, seachem magnesium, aqua forest magnesium, anything that says it's a magnesium additive. Some come in liquid others do not. You could even buy 10 gallons or so of saltwater from your LFS is they sell in order to help out some until your salt arrives.

I think it is more likely a bad test result than actual magnesium that low unless salinity is also low.

How are you measuring it? Many folks have issue with mag testing, especially with the Red Sea kit.

i'm using the salifert mg test. retested it 3 times this morning. all 3 times I got 1170.

Have you boosted it since the 1050? 1170 is a more likely real value than 1050.
