The magnesium level is low in my tank. I’m getting a reading of 730 with my Red Sea test kit. I have started dosing the Red Sea magnesium. My tank is 150 gallons minus the sump. Right now I’m dosing 60ml a day. My alk is 8.5 . The cal is 450. Since I started dosing mag my alk and cal consumption has gone up. However I was wondering how much magnesium can I safely dose per day to get the level back where it needs to be. I have a mixed reef with a few soft corals and a variety of montopora’s with a few other sps. I know nothing good happens fast in this hobby, however any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

I was hoping it was. However I have ran the test on four different days with the same results. My next step may be to my lfs, to get them to run the test so I can see what reading they get. For over a year I was getting a reading around 1600. Now I’m getting this low reading. You know how sometimes something seems off with your tank and you can’t figure out what. Well that’s what’s happening to me. Mg was the last thing I tested for and it seems to be my problem.

That’s weird but I guess can happen. You just reminded me to check Mg lol

I would raise it 1-200ppm a day until you get where you want it to be.

I raised mg more than that in a day without issues but it was only once to try fighting algae.
