Hi reefers!

Tank info:
90g display with 30g sump. No skimmer, no socks, no macros/fuge, no nutrient reducers of any type.

1 3” starry blenny
1 red serpent star
Porcelain crabs
Hermits
Snails
Misc coral:
Zoas
1 hammer
Few LPS
Monti caps and digis, 1 orenji
4 acros

I’ll admit that I haven’t tested anything on this tank for...I’m not sure how long. Most of my reagents were expired; it’s been a while.
I have zero algae. Zero. My glass needs cleaned maybe once every 2 weeks.
I ordered new reagents and tested today. Red Sea says my nitrates are maybe 1, there was barely a pink tinge to the water.
Hanna HI713 says my phosphates are .12ppm. I need to get my nitrates up before I have a cyano outbreak.
I feed my one fish very heavily and feed seaweed but apparently not enough to keep nitrates in the system. This is starting to show in my coral, they are losing some color. I am looking for information to raise nitrates. If someone can point me to a thread to nitrate dosing for newbies, I would be very grateful!

YES. Nitrate dosing is super effective. My corals love it. Anecdotal, they love it more so than just fish poop. Coloration and growth has been much better.

tell me more @Joedubyk what do you use for nitrates?

I make my own using food grade potassium nitrate. It is a much cheaper option than something like brightwell sells.

Though, you'll need to be very careful and you probably won't have to dose much.

I perform WC, filter floss, use Vibrant, skim w/ a fuge, so that's a LOT of export. You have zero.

You probably won't much to keep your nitrates elevated.
