Hello everyone,

I have a return pump for over a year which they ( manufacturer) said it is very quite but it is very load. Please help, which pump would you guys recommend for silent operation. Or methods for having a silent return pump.

Current Pump: Tunze recirculation Pump 1073

Sicce, ehiem or any dc pump. The smaller mag drives are quiet as well (under mag12)

Sicce Syncra pumps are very quiet as are Eheim and Tunze.
If your Tunze is not quiet, I would make sure it is not vibrating on the bottom of the sump. A silicone hot pad can be used help stop some noise.
Using a flexible hose for the first few inches of the return line.
Cleaning it can help.

I just bought a Vectra M1 for my return pump. It can be plumbed externally or internally and is very quiet, but expensive.

I agree on checking the setup of your pump. Can you take a couple pics of it? Some tricks are using a length of flexible tubing on the return pipe and a silicone pad under the pump. Maybe we can "fix" your pump and you can save some cash for livestock.

I have a m1 and can't hear it at all and a fish I had in my sump got sucked into it and it barley slowed it down.

Thank you guys, so I have a flex tubing between the pump and the return line. I tried pad, it's not vibrating it's just noisy. It's the only equipment that is noisy. I even cleaned it, the only thing that is left is for me to apply noise damping pas to the interior of the cabinet

Another vote for the vectra. You could hard plumb it from the pump (no silicone tubing) and you would never hear it. I have the vectra m1 best pump I've ever had...dead silent. The jebao DC pumps are also great if you have the connector say a t-fitting or 90 elbow far away from the outlet of the pump or you'll hear a hum. Sicce is another great pump up there with the vectra but for the price I would buy a vectra over a sicce any day of the week personally. I've had all the pumps mentioned above. Idk about sicce' customer service but ecotech's customer service is bar none the best I've ever encountered.
