I have some painting going in the same room as my tank. I rapped my tank in a a big plastic tarp. I taped the sides to try and keep as much toxins from the paint out. I also put some carbon into the sump. But with the rap around then tank and not much oxygen to get into the water will it be fine?

Personally, I'd just put some fresh carbon in the sump, make sure the skimmer is running and take the cover off. Starving your tank of oxygen is FAR worse than what's floating around in house paint fumes.

Yeah but then that would bring more of the paint fumes into the tanks dissolved oxygen
The tank has to have to have oxygen. You now what happen if you stick a plastic bag over your head. This is similar.
I would leave it uncovered, get all your painting supplies ready to go, cover the tank, paint quickly and uncover it once the paint starts to dry to the touch which should be within minutes assuming you are using latex

I but gaps around the plastic for air to get in. Not sure what kind of paint. I am not painting. I am getting a wall unit painted and they are spraying.

Can't help there. Im a DIY person and would never spray in the house. I would never pay anyone to paint a wall either but that's me ;) . Brush and roller for me and I can control where the paint goes unlike spray that goes evwrywhere.

Ever have a skimmer go nuts because SoMeOnE in the house decided to light a scented candle? Same could hold true for stuff in paint fumes if you're that worried about it. I'd rather empty a full skimmer cup.
