Hi everyone. I have a dilemma. I bought my first acan yesterday and acclimated it to my 12g nano no problem. It puffed up fine and the colors look basically like they did in the store. This morning my tank readings were this:
SG: 1.025
Nitrates: 12
Kh: 9
Ca: 500
Mg: 1300
Ph: 7.6
This was a day after a 1g water change. After these readings, I did another 1g water change to bring down nitrates and raise ph. I also added two pinches of Seachem reef buffer, figuring I could raise the alk a little without knocking everything out of whack. The ph is up to 7.9 after the lights have been on for six hours. The acans look a little less puffy today and I can't see their tentacles. I'll take a before and after pic for the next post. My question is this. Do I need to gradually raise the ph with buffer, as long as I keep alk within normal limits? My zoas, Florida ricordia and star polyps are all open and fine. Any and all advice would be welcome!
