My reefer 250 has been up and running for around 3 months, all was well except I struggled with low PH my guess is because we are in newly built house that is very airtight. I purchased a CO2 scrubber from BRS and hooked it up to my skimmer intake. PH went from high of 7.8 to 8.2, too early to tell how often I will need to change the media but so far I am very pleased. I was seeing great colors on my SPS but not having any growth or encrusting so interested to see if things start to move now.

I had a similar experience with about the same improvement in my pH. One thing I would recommend is to modify your skimmer cup with a hose barb to draw humid air directly into the scrubber. The use of humid air resulted in increasing the life of the scrubber media from 7-10 days on average to around four weeks.

If your cup overflows will it pull skimmate into the co2 scrubber and then into your skimmer?

I was worried about that also. I eliminated the problem of the skimmer overflowing altogether by installing one of these little doohickeys: AutoAqua Smart Skimmer. Works great.

My scrubber setup. A solenoid in the blue box is controlled by apex to open when ph is above 8.25

Pulls air from skimmer cup through media through two 1/4" lines.
