I’ve been running my tank around a month now and my pH has been around 7.7-7.8. I’m using Red Sea Coral Pro Salt and my salinity is consistently between 34-35ppt. I tried adding buffer to my top off water to raise the pH, but it didn’t seem to help and now my alkalinity is around 13.5dKH. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m using the Hanna checkers for testing, so I’m pretty confident in the test’s accuracy. I’m doing weekly water changes to slowly bring down dKH. I’m also in the ugly stages, so I’d imagine my parameters will swing some. Thanks.

Stop chasing numbers and keep thinks stable. You will see swings in parameter’s with new tanks and it’s best not to react to them because it often makes things worse. Don’t add any more buffers. Consistent water changes is what I would recommend.

Ok, thanks
