I accidentally ran hot water through my RODI unit for an hour before I realized. It’s a 6 stage BRS RODI unit. I changed the RO membrane and all 3 filters just in case. My PSI was around 40-45 which I know is on the lower end but now after the change I am only getting 30 psi. Any recommendations on why this could be? TDS going in to the DI resin is now at 15 and going out is at 0. Any help would be great!

Is the flush valve partially open?

Not knowing how you tap your hot or cold water pipe maybe thats the issue.

Sediment and carbon blocks need changing? 40-45 PSI is extremely low for a membrane to be effective. Start there then check the pressure at your source.

Im in an office space hooked up to a faucet in a “mop closet.” Been running for a year at 45psi until today when I changed out the filters and RO membrane

Changed them all out at the same time yesterday. Been running at 40-45psi for a year. 0 tds. I know it’s on the low end but it’s been running fine. Now pressure is at 30. Go Knights! (Fellow UCF alum)

The only other thing I can think of is that something dislodged in the unit when you ran the hot water through it and it’s restricting flow. If not, I’d be curious to know what the issue is. Good luck bud. Go Knights!

Yea, I’m hoping I don’t have to buy a new unit!

Double check the seating of the membrane in the housing.

I’ll definitely double check that but pretty sure it’s in there snug. I’ll double check though.

Bump to see if there are any other suggestions?

On the pressure gauge that’s attached to the RO unit.
That's what I assumed, but wanted to make sure. Double-check it isn't the pressure gauge itself. They can go bad too.

If the gauge is good, it could be a drop in incoming pressure, or a clog/leak like others mentioned.

Have you pulled the incoming line to see if you have good flow? Then is so have you pulled the line right before entering the membrane? If that’s good, then check after the membrane. Could have a piece of debris stuck in the flow restrictor. This has happens to me I just pulled the restrictor gave it a good cleaning then put it back and it was working like new again.

Pulled out everything today. Including the RO membrane. We are hovering right around 40 again which is where we were at! I may not have put everything back properly. Thanks for everyone’s input! Much appreciated! Now may just need a booster pump. Although I’ve been at 40psi and haven’t had to change out DI resin and still at 0 TDS for 9 months now.
