Hey R2R! Thought i’d share my third upgraded tank in 3 years
Went from 20gal to 55 Red Sea reefer to 75 GALLON AQUEON TANK

Nothing fancy but thought I’d start off on the right foot this time
IMG_0035.jpeg

TANK BREAKDOWN
Put rocks and coral and fish in 20 gallon
Also caught a BIG butt BOBBIT WORM

IMG_0027.jpeg

For the 75 gallon itself,
Ordered some base coralline rock from saltybottom as well as live sand
I pretty much just mixed all sorts of rock together, but most of my rocks from previous tanks were from SALTYBOTTOM

PICS FROM WHEN I JUST SET UP THE TAKK
originally I had 3 AI PRIMES, planned on having some sps on right side
One fell into the water tho
they gotta make this stuff for rimmed tanks too!
**EQUIPMENT LIST**
2x Nero 3
1x JEBAO (for surface agitation)
1x PENNPLAXX CANISTER
2x AI PRIME 16HD
1x heater
1x GREEN KILLING MACHINE UV (added later cuz my tank has ich or something )

STOCKING
corals
Bananas (eaten)
1x cleaner shrimp
1x whitetail bristle tooth tang (acorn)
2x clownfish
3x cardinal fish

**TANK IS NOW 1.5 MONTHS OLD**
Struggling ATM with high phos, but corals seem ok. Started running rowaphos yesterday

There’s also a pistol shrimp somewhere IMG_0404.jpeg
IMG_0403.jpeg

I rely lots also on various sponges and live rock for biological filtration since I only have a canister on this guy

Coral rehab
the sad looking toadstool in the back is actually a Japanese neon toadstool!
A month ago when I received it, it was practically dead! - just a little nub

Has been slowly extending and recovering…
Hopefully it’ll grow up nice and strong
:)

JUST GOT BACK FROM CORAL FARMERS MARKET (CFM)
Got some zoas, acros, LPS, and other sps!

All the trash!

Iodine dip :0

Some stickers :cool::cool:

Here’s a pic of all the coral when I just added them - I will update later today

can you do reef tank with canister? i thought for fw only. i have one

Looks like you're getting on very well! :) Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do a reef tank on a canister filter! Well done..
Anything is possible!
Definitely! You would not believe the amount of people on Reddit of all places telling me I was on a road to failure with this canister…
but So far so good! Fingers crossed lol

Well done so far, looks like you're on the road to success! :star-struck:

i like this fish but thought clown fish was orange
There are many clownfish species that may be yellow, orange, red or have one, two or even no stripes! I forgot the exact type of clownfish these are, but they are captive bred ones that you would not find in the wild - hence the color

DAY 2 FTS!!
IMG_0481.jpeg

Really happy with how things are doing. Great extension throughout (acros taking some more time but they are coming out)

Acro

Acro 2 being bothered by chippy the shrimp

White zombie zoa

Some more sps- the big one I received for like 10 bucks since the dude just got it in and it’s was not looking too good from shipping
IMG_0487.jpeg

Pocillopora (?)
IMG_0484.jpeg

This elegance is also absolutely beautiful -
Sold to me as gold topped elegance but tips are more like neon greenish… wasn’t too bad for the price tho
IMG_0486.jpeg

:confounded-face::confounded-face::angry-face:
Flatworms on the elegance! Seems ticked.
I’m going to dip it but any suggestions on wrasse that can eat these guys?
IMG_0535.jpeg

The flatworms are pretty big and are brownish in color

Okay quick update!
I dipped the elegance in iodine and the flatworms are gone (for now)
He’s opening back up

I also introduced a fish ( yellow coris wrasse aka banana aka flatwormdestroyer3000)

IMG_0551.jpeg

He’s acclimating well and making friends, but Acorn the Kole tang isn’t very friendly!!
He hides in a little fish trap I put as a safe spot, as well as holes my goby dug
IMG_0555.jpeg
IMG_0557.jpeg

Corals are doing pretty good.
Sps polyp extension isn't super super long but it’s there!
They are also coloring up nicely.
Still need an id though
