hey everyone! I am new to the site but have been active in the hobby with a tank for the last 8 months. I do not currently have a build thread or introduction on here but will be putting one together over the next couple of days. anyways back to my original question, is there a way to lower your calcium and alk? I discussed this at one point in time with the owner of one of the LFS around here and he said to add buffer every day for the next week or so and that will bring it back down, but I have found myself questioning his advise more and more everytime I stop by for a visit. currently my tank is a 20L with 10g sump and a 5G HOB cpr fuge. My calcium just tested 500 and my DKH just tested at 11, I understand that some may find these levels to be ok, but they are higher than I would like. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. TIA
Tony

Depending on your salt parameters, you may just be able to do a couple water changes.

I would just discontinue dosing for a couple days and allow your corals to consume the excess.

I agree that basically doing nothing will lower cal/alk. After all that is the reason we dose to begin with.

What salt do you use? Something is not right and it may be your test kits. That is high for any salt with out any additives unless you have a bad batch of salt or your salinity is off.
