Lowering ph

Overnight ph naturally goes down.

Ill test again tonight. I did check seneyes FAQ info on ph and they have a section about ph being off sometimes due to their testing method so I did a couple of the fixes they recommended and ill see what that does. I'm not gonna make any changes to the tank. All fish look healthy and no signs of stress.

Best way to read those API tests is to open the cap on the tube and look down into it rather from the side. Easier to see the color. I don't use them for my SW tank, but I think there is info in the pamplet that comes with the kits says something about that when its hard to see diff in colors.

Hmm ok ill try that. I actually messed around with the seneye based off what seneye FAQ site said to do and now it's reading 8.27.

As others have said or hinted, I'd simply stop worrying about an arbitrary pH reading.

Instead, if the tank has been fine, currently looks fine and the new meter says 8.5, then you learn for your tank, at this time of day, with this tester, that 8.5 is okay. Hopefully calibration gives you a more accurate reading going forward.

FWIW, results from different test kits are unlikely to match each other very exactly...good to remember this is not really the point where we are concerned. :)

I use calibration solution weekly with my monitor. 7.0 solution is what I use.

High pH as well

In my farm I have a high pH as well.
Usually runs 8.7-8.8 during the day, 8.5-8.6 at night with lights out.

I have tried everything. I did a huge water change last night and it went down to 8.59, then today its back up again.

Dosing BRS Soda ash 50ml per day at intervals of .32seconds 24 times per day.

I shut dosers off for two days, no effect. Changed tons of water but it goes back up.

Any ideas?

One test tube looks like it has more in it but I wouldnt get too hung up on ph alk calcium and mag are the numbers that really matter I would almost bet its a testing error
