Hi, I have mushrooms doing well and have ordered a duncan and a candycane. Salinity 1.025 natural seawater, ph 8.2, kh 10, NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 7.5 (just added a new skimmer so going down from 10), PO4 0.05 (also reducing with skimmer running), Mg 1020 (will dose up), Ca 370 (will dose up), temperature 78. Do parameters sound reasonable for LPS? Any advice? Thank you! :)

I think you will be good! Maybe think about testing for alkalinity in the future.
Thank you! Is kh not alkalinity? Mine is 10. Weirdly you're in my old home town - I moved from Chicago to near London years ago. :)

Yes kh=alkalinity I run mix reef
Sal 1.025
Kh 9
Ca 420
Mg 1410
Po4 .05
No3 .5

That's quite a move! 10 kh is good -- I somehow missed it in your post.

Ah, I typed an essay lol. Yes, I suppose it is, been here all of my adult life so it feels like the norm really. My mother's still on the South side where I grew up, my Father's on the North side now. I'm going to set him up a reef tank when I'm next over visiting, he got my into fish keeping as a kid but never had the confidence for marine and while I'm fairly new to it I've set up all of mine DIY. can you suggest any good places to look for second hand equipment and tanks and good marine shops in Chicago? Have a good New year in any case :)

Thank you, it's a relief to know I don't need to be chasing lower PO4 and higher ph and kh, just keep up WC and dose some Mg and Ca I guess. Awesome looking tank! Are the two large, light coloured ones at the top Caulastraea? Anyway, happy new year! :)

Yes, chasing numbers will drive you crazy just try to get a routine maintenance schedule set I only dose kh & ca everything thing else stays consistent with my water changes. I do 20 gal every 3 weeks on my 120 worked since 1980

Cool, that's a long time of keeping it ticking over! I'm finding ca is close but mg quite under so dosing both now but everything else seems to stay pretty stable. :)

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
