Hi, hoping someone can offer advice. I ordered a single head duncan frag and a three head trumpet frag, the seller included a free green pavona. They've been in 5 days now after drip acclimating and a dip and all look ok, no shriveling or brown slime. I popped them in a frag shelf about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom so I can move them around and work out where they're happy before fixing them to the rock work. The trumpets have turned themselves towards the light so thinking they want to go up. The duncan is turned away from the light and has only partially opened so thinking it wants to move lower maybe? I can see its centre but it's only just started unfurling a few of its tentacles and only partially, is this normal less than a week in? These are my first LPS so very much a learning curve. General parameters are good, Ca is bang on, Mg needs to up a little but it's not dire, Strontium is low but dosing that with the Mg. Thank you!

Just leave them alone. They need time to adjust to your water/lights. If it’s starting to poke out it’ll likely open up here soon. I have a 20+ head Duncan colony that started as a 2 or 3 head back in May and it stayed closed up for about a week when I first put it in. It’ll still close up for a day or two sometimes after I stir up the sand bed really well during a cleaning.

I can tell you this ,, the Duncan ,, it will want to be at the top of your scape ,, both it and the Trumpet are light loving corals ,, I don't know what your Par numbers are ,, I will give you this advice ,, a 300 Par number for them shouldn't bother them ,,

Thanks for that! I figured it might take awhile, good to know they can grow so quickly!

Place rack at 1/3 - 1/2 way down and allow them to adjust.
My Pavona and Duncans prefer lower third of tank while trumpets like upper third. Allow to acclimate to tank conditions and feeding before moving around as you need to establish their happy medium
