Hello,

Do you dose your tank?
I mainly have LPS.
I do water change every two weeks with Red sea blue bucket and feed corals once a week with LRS/Mysis.
Would like to see how other reefers care of their LPS tanks.

My thoughts...dosing is determined by usage/consumption of the elements. The type(s) of coral may/will impact that usage. Lastly, nothing should be dosed that you don't have the ability to measure.

So if you can measure Calc, Alk and Mag and determine the consumption your system is using, then you can dose appropriately regardless of what type of coral you have. It may be your regular water changes are sufficient to maintain consistant parameters. If not, then dosing will be required.

So I would do a water change and then do a full set of parameter testing. Wait a few days and then test again. At that point you should be able to determine your daily consumption. If it's minor in nature, you may be able to avoid dosing. But as your system matures, corals are added and continue to grow, you'll likely find some dosing will be necessary.

Just my $.02.

Excellent response. Not sure I can add anything to that. :-)
