.25 is the api error message basically.

Nice. Wish I could do the same. I'm right in NY Harbor. The water at the beach down the block is brackish and I am sure has plenty of contaminants from the shipping industry. Although, I have been toying with the idea of setting up a tank with local marine life.
You mean where PaulB gets his water and bugs.

I think for ammonia, API is okay to use. Ammonia is not usually tested nearly as often as other parameters. I use Hanna for alk and calcium and Red Sea for magnesium and back ups to the alk and calc. I use salifert for nitrate.
Red Sea and salifert are good test kits if you are not into using Hanna.

@saltyfilmfolks have you seen false high ammonia before - if it was high yesterday/the day before (i.e. a real result) it could have been the problem? (or)
Yea , it’s usually with products like Prime however.

I use api as well and foot the same kind of readings. Not with prime.

Onrhe other hand I’ve also used tonto cycle a tank and saw it rise and fall.

I have a little trouble sometimes reading the colors on the AM test. If they are close or I can't really tell, I tend to go with the higher reading.

I have 2 plates, a torch, and an acan. All four are retracted and showing their skeletons. I have zoas, zena and a leather and they all look great. The fish look and are doing great also. Here are my test results:
Cal - 440
KH - 107.4
Ph - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5
Am - .25
PH - 8

The only change I have made has I switched brands of salt because my LFS was out of what I using. I have Current Orbit ICs for lights. Any idea what is going on?

My LPS hate the salt switch. I switched to Aquaforest, and they despise it. Everything closes up.

I don't think the salt switched helped, but the real issue appears to have been the low ALK. I have my tank at 8 now and the acan and welso look much better. I don't think the torch or plate are going to make it, but time will tell.

Can someone help me i think my hammer is dying
