Any idea of what this is? It came on some Florida live rock I got 5 years ago and just not thought I'd finally figure out what this is! NPS?
Here is flash and actinic.

Could it be? I have had it for 5 years and done nothing with it! I thought dendros had to be fed. Also it is a little smaller than the size of a dime.

Got pics without the tentacles out? Hard to say without seeing what it would looks like durring the day when not in "feed mode".

Those tentacles look just like those on my scoly when it feeds.

I'm positive it isn't a scolly. The more I look at the picture of it without tenticle the more I think it is a dendro, BUT it always has its tenticles out so I had to disturb it! This could be because I didn't feed it for 5 years but I do not know. Theories?

That's a great find being as those are somewhat rare now.

Well if those are infact dendros, I hope I can make them grow! At first I thought they were cup coral (many years ago) beacuse on the se live rock there were huge colonies up cup coral but sadly all the cup coral died through various mishaps.

Then when the tentacle are out like they are a small piece of raw shrimp twice a day or a few mysis shrimp in rack opening and they start to I crust and pop babies in months. Also if you have live shrimp and fish in your tank feed the possible Dendros and cover them with half or one third of a Pepsi two liter bottle top (leave the lid on) and let it set for 30-40min till the Dendros are completely finished eating. And make sure nothing picks at them after feeding and they'll grow fast than you know. I feed mine two times a day once early in the morning and just as the lights went out and have had great success for years with them.

Cool! I always wanted a dendro or rhizo! Lets see if I can make these things grow!
One last question. It doesn't look like they have a base. They just fome out of the rock. How will they reproduce like that?

You get a rhizo and that's a big find. But their body will spread like skin. You'll see them fatten up as you feed them then baby's will pop up at the same time they will be making a skeleton on the surface of the rock. So. They'll spread and rise, spread and rise.

Cool thanks for the expert help!

With pleasure! I don't know how explosive growth will be. My parents are divorced so I have to switch houses... ill be lucky if I can get my dad to keep up with the dosing regiment let alone feed these corals!

Yeah I didn't mean to imply it was a scoly... I'm unaware of scolys catching a ride into a tank lol... but check out my photo and your close up. The tentacles look the same.

Oh I gotcha!

Quick question.
What is the difference between sun corals, dendros, and rhizos? (Besides size)

Mainly size and region where there from. I;m sure are some other differences but care is the same.
