I had a mini tank crash about a month ago (alk and no3 got too high) I lost my SPS but the LPS seemed to be doing ok. At the same time I treated for cyano using chemi clean. Now some of my healthy LPS polyps are falling off their skeleton. They’re still alive, but I’ve never seen this before. Last parameters (all normal) were:
Alk 9.3
Ca 400
No3 4.4
pH 8.93
Sg: 35.4
Temp: 77.8
Didn’t check PO4 yet but it never got out of whack.

After the chemi clean I did the 20% water change, followed all directions. I still have green hair algae and cyano, plus some flatworms. I don’t want to do anything radical because that always makes thing worse. Experienced reefer here, with a 40g. I’ve just never seen this before. Thanks for any ideas on what I could do next.

It’s hard to see but a few trumpets are hanging off the skeleton.

Is this a typo, because if that’s actually your pH, it would certainly be a problem…

Assuming it is supposed to be 7.93, random single polyp loss like that often points towards a predator. Do you have an angel fish, file fish, peppermint shrimp or other questionably reef safe animals?

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
