LPS Slow Tissue Necrosis

What salt brand? Yes it matters more than the starving theory. 20 years of low nutrients and never an issue with acans. Trusted some jerks making crap salt and I couldn't keep lps at all. Exact thing like you are describing. Switched to a better brand and now I can keep lps and almost dead acans are back and growing.

What is the "crap" salt you are referring to?

Well they owe me money still so I can't say anything. It is not a widely used salt. I have heard of at least 1 very popular salt causing the same issues but I do not have personal experience with that brand so I won't bash them either. Definitely not IO or RC.

I wish I had the answer for you but just like you I have lost a frog spawn last week now I have another one dying that was close to it so I know how you feel!

Sorry guys work schedule has been crazy. The reason I do 10% water change is do replenish my alk and cal and trace elements and also because i feed so much.

I use Fritz salt and have a kessil a360we.

So acans are looking ok after the dip i did on Saturday. Still at work when i get home i will upload the pictures i took during the dip so you guys can see the damage.

I'm thinking those big water changes are stripping your nutrients to a point they're starving. Just my gut instinct on this, probably because I've been guilty of the same thing. Who would've thought macroalgae could be so darn effective?? Good move on the light schedule and ramping up feedings. I'd chill with those water changes for a while. I've got a sumpless 29 fully stocked with lps and softies and I only do a 2 gallon wc once every two months. Carbon bag in the back. Even got a football sized porite in there and he's happy.

Yeah no more water changes for the time being lol also have a stock 29g biocube. I am currently cycling a 90g i have some test coral in there and dont want to put my acans in there yet just inc ase the issue "spreads" dont want to contaminate the new tank.

Not my salt brand I had issues with but there is a long line of people complaining about your brand.
