Hey guys so I have a question and I know its part of the never ending debate. I’ve read for best coral growth, the lower degrees of Kelvin the better. But typically, 6500k-8500k and even sometimes 10000k gives you that unwanted yellow look. Has anyone dialed down where I can be on that scale while still getting good coral growth but making my zoathids and other softies pop? I’m running two Maxspect Ethereal 130W lights.

Go for the light that is looking the most appealing to you. Maybe the lower kelvin would benefit the growth of your zoas, however the goal is to enjoy watching your tank. With good husbandry they will definitely grow under any light that is meant for a reef tank.

In the end it is better to have a stunning tank with 200 polyps than a yellowish looking tank with 220 polyps that you secretly hate.
