I have had a Hammer in my nano for roughly 3 months
it has always looked plump and healthy.
low-mod flow.

recently (the last 7-10 days) its looked a bit more deflated/smaller

there are two possibilities I see..

1 - recently my alk dropped from 8.5 to 6.7, cal has remained the same at 430 (lamotte for alk, salifert for Cal
or
2 - the peppermint shrimp is picking at it, which i have never seen happen, but I know this is a common problem and likely to be the case.

my question: what is the obvious effects of low alk on LPS (if the levels above are a possible contributor)
and, any tips on catching a peppermint shrimp without ripping apart the tank? small 24G jbj.

I think it would be alk swing. Mine
Never look good when alk swings like that.. I'm not a pro just my 2cents

I would also just try to spot feed shrimp keep him full before rearrange tank catching him..

Yeah +1.

How long has your alk been down? I would work on getting it back up over the next week or two. What's your tank have for stock and how are you maintaining parameters.

Yeah. Work on getting it up. Also make sure your nutrients aren't out of whack (aka too low). Gotta keep on it and move your reef!!!

Probably alk. Catching shrimp isn't too hard if you build a trap btw!

Thanks all
Yes I dose the b-ionic 2 part. Was on vacation and had family watching the tank. Pretty sure they just didn't dose. Or only dosed cal.
