Ok Reefers, just about everyone loves Acan's now days, but do we know what makes them happy? I see so many new rainbow varieties, and a lot of other outrageous colors becoming available now. The questions I am wanting know is what makes them pop in your tank, Flow-light-supplement? you know the conditions that you feel bring out the colors in these awesome corals. Post pics of your prize Acan and your setup, I am sure everyone would love to see them. Thanks guys!

All acans or just Lords? Beautiful coral you have there!

Following...unfortunately my rainbow acans all lost their colors due to LEDs, but adding t5s soon to supplement...maybe they'll color back up. Word on the street is that I should add 3 blue+ and 1 purple+ for supplementing. Mine are not super colorful but very happy on the sand bed with moderate flow and some nutrients.

T5...T5 Blue...T5. All T5 to get the real, vibrant, variety of colors they offer. Anything else looks drab IMO

acan and lord is awesome LPS coral. but I cant grow them out of plug!! any advise appreciate.

I've got a really nice rainbow acan from Sexy corals that has been under my led setup for 3 months and withing the first week it lost all color and went completely pink. Well since its been 3 months it has finally started to get its colors back and looking awesome, its even sprouted 3 small heads. Im hopeing it grows this well over the next 3 months lol

Pretty sure I would get in trouble for posting 140 different acan pics (lords) :tongue:

I ran LEDs (as I do over all my other 4 tanks) over my acan tank and many of the acans held the original color but there were quite a few that morphed to red, it effected mainly the rainbows. Like I said most kept the sweet colors, skittles, highlighter, Tokyo tart, roswell but if you have 5 morph that sucks:ooh: it doesn't matter if you have over a 100 that didn't:bigsmile:

About 6 months ago I bought an ATI 6x24 sunpower and all the rainbows started returning to the beauty they once were

I just sold the 6x24 and bought a 6x36 since I decided to do the entire frag tank lords-(I got the bug bad). When I bought the new fixture I switched up the bulb config and I noticed the colors are even getting better
I run;

2 ATI Blue Plus, I Giess Aqua Pink, 1 Giess Actinic plus, 1 Korallen Super Blue

I have all my frag tanks plumbed into my display and to keep the lords happy I have the flow into that tank very low (maybe 120 gallons an hour) and I run a WP25 on the low nutr export setting just at night nothing during the time the lights are on.

I will also target fee Fauna Marin LPS pellets on occasion but its rare

I know the majority of people cant do that but I will say the best thing I ever did for them was switch back to the T5 fixture

Ive been an LED fan and using them for nearly 3 years but T5 for acans-without question in my mind and IME

I'm aslo subscribed-Interesting to hear what every is doing

I love my Led fixture but your right the acans look so much better under t5's, I kept taking my t5 fixture and holding over my tank to see what the acans look like compared to led,DANG they look so much better but everything else pops under leds way better. Maybe I can do some supplemental t5's.
