If you feed your LPS there is a good chance that the Coral Banded Shrimp (CBS) has caught on to it and might reach into the coral and try to remove the food. There is also a chance that it likes the fleshy polyps of the coral. I've had peppermint shrimp do it - so I wouldn't put it past the CBS.
I have a pair of cbs in my tank which is full of lps and I don't have a issue with growth or tissue recession. They will take the food out of the lps but I've never seen them damage a coral. Have you got some photos of the effected corals
I had a zoa frag for a few weeks without problems but out of nowhere it stopped opening up and after a few weeks I just discarded it. All other zoas did very well. No idea what happened...
