I have had an LTA for 5 months now and it’s a happy bugger. My question is about growth. Do they grow as fast as mine has? Or am I just lucky?
Got the nem 5 months ago and fully open it was maybe 3-4”. Now fully open and hosting 2 sexy shrimp, it is over 12” when the lights start to dim down and averages about 15-16” all day long. The par in its spot is just a hair under 200. It’s growth does not worry me as it has a huge spot it calls home. It’s also funny with what it does when the lights dim. It moves towards the glass and creates a pocket the sexy shrimp go to. Weird little critters I tell ya lol.
I do feed it twice a week and alternate between a whole cube of pe mysis and a clam/oyster mix I make. Here is a pic of it when it was acclimating and one of now. The lights are currently ramping down, so it has retracted a little. Yes it has moved to a corner since acclimation. I moved some rocks and changed the flow, it didn’t like the old spot anymore lol. Been in this spot for almost 2 months now.
Thoughts and opinions appreciated.
For size reference, the bottom Duncan heads at the top right are newly formed ones.
You can barely see the sexy shrimp. They are about an inch in size. It has also started to form the pocket for the shrimp to sleep in. Come
Midday tomorrow it will cover the entire sandy area in this corner.
