Hey everyone,
I got a LTA a few days ago. The guy at the store said it would be ok in a 36 gallon. I've since done some reading and it says 100 gallon. Anyone know the real answer?

How big is it ?

30 gallons I would call your minimum benchmark . Since they can grow to 20” you can’t really have one in a 30 gallon hence the 100 gallon number

Hmmm...I have a 36 gallon but enough sand space...do you think that would be ok? Right now he's about 10cm diameter...

It could grow quickly. Be prepared to upgrade or trade back to your LFS. We got ours not ten months ago; he could easily fit in the palm of your hand. Maybe five inches across. These days, when he's in a stretch out mood, probably 18 inches. In less than a year!

Lights are out right now so everyone is receding for the night, but I'll grab a pic tomorrow to show you what he's become.

This is what he was when we got him...

I would say your LTA would appreciate a bigger tank, especially if this is your first anemone, for stability. They, as stated above, also get massive and in a small tank they could potentially get out of hand very quickly. But it should be fine in the 36g tank for maybe 5-6 months.
Post pictures when you can, I would love to see your lil' baby.
Good luck and god bless!

Lgt are very good at eating little fish so becareful. That tank is too small I had a lgt in a 125 gallon tank and I had to give it away because it got too big.

He grew way faster than we anticipated! We've got a 220 that's only been up for a couple of months so it still needs a little more time to mature before we move 'Alvin' over. We've already moved the fish.
