Hey guys,
I need some kind of feedback on this situation, I just bought a gorgeous Purple LTA and this sucker won't attached his foot. I already tried using some rocks around his column/foot and even turned down 2 pumps the only flow is the tank return as for lights the nem didn't shrink when it was exposed to it (LED). My water parameters are in spec,no clowns are hosting the nem so is not stress. Any tricks or ideas:neutral:

How long have you had it? Is it moving around the tank? Any pictures?

I got it yesterday so technically less than 24hrs, the mouth is fine no gaping at all and tentacles are inflated and moving.
Is super healthy, is not moving around the tank just "floating" in one spot.

Make sure the foot is in ot by the sand where it can attach at the base of a rock in the sand. Mine moved 3 times until I found this little bit of info out...

Do you have a colander or strawberry basket or something that you could safely put over the nem while still allowing waterflow? When I first got mine it didn't want to settle in right away either so I dug a small hole in the sand - next to a rock like cdness menitoned ..... and then placed a strawberry basket over the top of it.

What type of substrate do you have? It is my understanding that they like a finer grain best ..... so if yours is pretty large maybe try adding some finer sand where you want him to be.

Yes, an idea of what the bottom of the foot looks like would be helpful.
How deep is your sandbed?
What are your actual water parameters, with numbers please -- "spot on" doesn't tell me much.
How long has your tank been set up?
What size tank?
What lights?

Here is an a few pictures of what a damaged bottom of the foot looks like -- I have yet to have one recover from this,

Bit blurry

The tank is almost 3yrs old,fine sand @ 4", 120w LED,90 gal w macro algae,lr and charcoal in sump.
The last test was done last week:Cal 400, Alk 9, Phosphate .03, Ammonia almost zero,Temp hovering at 78.

Here's a pic as right now,it looks like is setting and no more floating.

This baby is huge!! the foot is like 4" and the body is 10-12 when fully extend.
My true perc and black oce pair just moved into the nem, hopefully he can hold the pair and doesn't get stress at all,so excited!!!!!

Yay!! I think all it needed was some time. Congrats on the nem :)

Intersting. I just got a purple LTA the other day and I'm having the same problem. I have it tucked into a nice spot in the rocks & it hasn't moved.. but it also hasn't planted his foot. I don't believe the foot is damaged. I don't want to move it & stress it out.. so guess I'll wait and see.

edit: I've been reading they should be in the sand. Should I move it to the sand(dig a hole for it) or should I leave it be not to stress it?
