Hi,
I bought an LTA about 2 weeks ago it seems to be doing awesome, but almost every day at around 2-3pm it closes up for a while, then comes back out. The only thing I can think of is the foot is under the rock with my pistol shrimps burrow. Any help?

Are you feeding it? I know BTAs will close up similar to this when they're digesting their meals.

Mine closes up at odd times and moves whenever he has a mind to. Normal activity to me. Sometimes he puts his foot down, sometimes he doesn't. I feed him pieces of raw shrimp a couple of times a week. He is in a tank with a BTA and growing like a weed.

Here are my two... I cannot take a decent picture. My LTA is on the sand behind the Hammer.

This is just my experience. First off quit feeding it for at least a month. It takes time for them to get comfortable in a new environment. Second give it some flow mine moved itself right in front of a power head and hasn't moved since. Third. That thing will out grow your tank. Especially feeding it that often. Once or twice a month is plenty. Also lots of lights. I have a 6 bulb t5 fixture on my 75 and mine moved as I said right in front of a power head and about 6 inches from the top. I'm only giving you what is working for me and I hope it helps. I don't really remember how long I've had mine but it's at least 5 and maybe 6 years. Good luck.
