I bought a long tentacle anemone today. I have buried his foot in the sand (as best i can, you trying bury jelly in moving sand) and he keeps pulling loose then tumbling around the tank from the flow. Do i let it just tumble?
I'm afraid to over handle and stress the guy out.

Nope, even with the flow off he pulled out of the stand and flipped onto his head
sigh

How old is the tank and what are current parameters...if he doesn' seem to find a.spot he likes it could be tank conditions and not positioning that's bothering him.

So LTAs can be really tricky. They like being in the sand, but they also like both:

a: To be up against a rock or some other surface

and:

b: to have a deep enough sand bed to both feel secure, yet also extend their foot either down to the bottom of the tank or to the underside of the rock.

As was said previously. you're going to have to give it a few hours without flow to let it attach, but TYPICALLY with LTAs once they find a happy spot they generally don't roam. If they are stationary for a long period of time and suddenly start to roam, usually there is a problem.

I added 2 LTA's a couple of months ago. What worked for me was to turn off the powerheads and the return. Put the anemones up against a rock formation and on the sand. They like to attach to the bottom glass. Then I "penned" them in with a jail of rock rubble. Left it like this 3 or 4 hours. They attached and have not moved since. Love these guys. Big and beautiful.

It should not take that long for a healthy LTA to set foot given proper conditions, and I agree they seem to prefer close to a rock, and even better a ledge area where they can pull in and out of light as they wish.

If it continues rolling I'd assume maybe issues w/ params, sand bed, or possibly a torn foot

I had the same problem with my LTA so I went to Lowe’s and got a 4in pvc endcap placed the foot of the LTA in and fill around it with sand LTA haven’t moved since. And on the plus side if I change my mind I can move it.

Still tumbling, looks healthy, my maroon clown luvs him
