curious to know if Lugols Iodine go bad from sitting tool ong.
Ive had a new bottle of Lugols Iodine sitting on shelf for 5 years plus and wondering if it goes bad from being too old ??

I found this post from @Randy Holmes-Farley from several years ago on another forum:

Supplementing is different than dipping with respect to lifetime.

IMO, Lugol's (a mixture of I2 and I-) is not the best iodine supplement for a chemical form perspective, but I do not think it gets any worse over time. It probably gets better if iodate (IO3-) is slowly formed and iodine (I2) is slowly declining. I'm not sure what happens to the iodide (I-) in it, but it too might become iodate, which is the predominate form in natural seawater anyway.

That said, I also do not think that any type of iodine supplement is useful except possibly in the case of certain gorgonia. It is not apparently useful for the typical organisms that people implicate it for (IMO).

Not sure that helps or not...
