Lump on Yellow tangs tail [Pictures]

Hello!
Since a week ago I have had a newly acquired yellow tang in quarantine (12 gallon tank). The tang is about 2" and seems to generally be in good health. It is swimming very actively and has great appetite. Yesterday I noticed that it has a lump by the tailfin on one of the sides. It is located on the spike/spine characteristic of tangs and seems to kind of fluffy. The lump is quite large (i.e not ich or velvet) and does protrude a bit. The other side of the fish is unaffected and it seems otherwise very healthy.

What do you think the lump can be? Could it be something witch naturally goes away, as it is isolated to the spike?

Could be damage to the scalpel/area with secondary infection. Need better pic.

That's what i was thinking...maybe even the scalpel was caught in a net....

I am unable to make anything out for sure due to the lack of definition in the photo of the afflicted area.

I wouldn't concern myself a lot based on your description unless it turns reddish and grows in size marginally.

It looks like the fish is quite discolored to me. Maybe some sort of bacterial infection. You could give it some time or treat with the trifecta in a QT.
