Lumps on zoanthid stalk

Just wondering if anyone has seen something thing like this on their zoanthids. To me it looks almost like a new bud, but I have only ever seen them grow buds from the base and never mid stalk. The first picture I was bothering them with my feeder to get a good angle and the second is a few minutes after when they opened up again.

Type of sponge, I've had them choke out zoas. But easy to remove.

Honestly, it looks like a new bud to me. I've had them sprout that way before.

Oh, that looks less like a sponge now. Not sure.

That definitely looks like a new polyp to me. You can kind of see the small circle opening at the tip where it will open up.
