Lunar Wrasse

So.... I may have messed up. I ALWAYS research like crazy, even at the store, before buying fish. For some reason Saturday, I didn't even think to look this guy up. I bought a decent sized lunar wrasse, probably 4" long or so.

I've got a reef tank. 1 peppermint shrimp, dozen nassarius snails, dozen trochus (glass cleaner) snails an long tent. urchin and 8 or 10 red legged hermits in a 90G. Is there a chance he'll be fine or is guaranteed they'll be toast if I put him in there.

He's in the sump right now with a single trochus snail and a hermit (sacrificial lamb test, you might say) and hasn't messed with them yet. But I'm sure he's still acclimating too.

I'm not part of the reef squad but you're better off returning him and saving yourself the headache!
They are gorgeous fish but you are dooming your inverts once he goes in the display!

I agree, though some of the other guys might have actual experience keeping a lunar in a reef tank. I don't.

He's unlikely to pester the urchin and shrimp but everything else is fair game.

I've always found wrasse worth replacing the CUC every 6-12 months.

True, I typically kept them with aggressive fish like tangs, angels, etc.

The urchin will be safe, but that's about it. Any of the motile inverts are in troble, and any small to medium sized peaceful fish will likely be harassed.

I'm planning on doing a FOWLR predator tank at some point thanks to @Lionfish Lair. He'd probably do fine in that. Maybe this will push me over the edge.

Beware keeping them with sedentary predators, such as lions and other scorpions. Thalasomma species have a reputation for going for the eyes of some fish.
