lutz skimmer

does anyone have for sale or donation a good user friendly skimmer for this tank? The skimmer we purchased years ago for it is not easily maintained by the people at the museum.

That tank has a sump right? I have my old aquaC remora but I don't know if your looking for HOB, very easy skimmer to use and clean tho. What skimmer was in there before?

Im just brain storming, it has a reef octopus. However seems to be a little unpredictable, and alone for long periods of time seems to ask people to open it up as to tame it to not skim............ if you catch my drift

I am just trying to weigh out all the options.I have a hard time buying any new equipment for myself never mind the club. Lolwhen my tank was in at a day the only new piece of equipment ever on it was an external drive pump, and it's now 10 years old and still never a problem

Does the tank have a ato. I just got my ato locked in running a constant level and it's so much better. Even a little bit in change seems to effect them alot.

I hope your not running it the way it sounds..... but a top off will not i impact the skimmer, even though one will be added soon.

If the water level drops in its chamber the water level inside the skimmer will drop. So unless it's In a consistent water level the water level will always change inside the skimmer. I always hated my skimmer until the ato kept a consistent level in the sump

Phil if.you.partition your sump correctly you dont need to worry about an ato making your skimmer work...

+1 My skimmer chamber never changes. And I'm assuming that the sump on the lutz tank has a separate skimmer chamber too.

I like my sump nice and open no walls in it. Ato help that and keeps salinity stable so win win for me. I had a partition in there and tore it out since I couldn't get my skimmer out from under the stand
