Could this be the beginning of lymphocystis on my new regal angel? It was pre-quarantined by Dr. Reef following his protocol (https://quarantinedfish.us/quarantined-fish).

When I received it, FedEx lost the package for a day and it was very stressed on arrival, but eventually recovered. Unfortunately, one of my Diver’s Den fish must have brought in ich so my DT is currently fallow. I have everyone in QT tanks dosed with copper power. The regal angel is currently in a QT with a very small white tail tang and a juvenile melanurus wrasse.

Nobody is showing outward signs of ich anymore, so I really don’t think it’s ich. I searched “white lump on marine fish” and found many articles pertaining to lymphocystis, but I’m not entirely sure that’s what this is. Any help with diagnosis and a treatment plan would be greatly appreciated. This has been one of my dream fish for a long time, and value aside, I’d hate to lose it.

Anything not circled is just particulate in the water or spots on the glass.

After they had been in treatment with copper over a week. I had literally nowhere else to put it as my DT is fallow and all of my other tanks are currently QTing and treating livestock. The ones in that tank never showed signs of ich in the display, and the water is copper treated. Also, the spot looks too big to be ich. I understand your concern, but my hands were tied.

Oh, and for the record, these spots were on the fish when it arrived. It has nothing to do with where it’s currently housed.

This particular tank will get another 14 days of copper power, just to be sure.

Are the spots raised at all? Lympho appears fibrous or cauliflower like in texture.

The spot on its side does look raised, but the two on the tail appear to be in the tissue. They may just be damaged fin rays. I picked up some Kanaplex and Furan-2 to have on hand just in case. I already have metroplex and copper power (already in the tanks at therapeutic dosage).
