I have a lightly stocked 125 gallon 6ft tank (7 y/o). Well I think it's lightly stocked. I have 2 spotcintus clownfish, 1 yellow tang, 1 hippo tang, and a coral beauty. I have been thinking about adding a few anthias to my tank, and am thinking about Lyretail Anthias. Is there any reason they would not work with the current fish I have? I gather they are fairly easy to keep if you keep them fed. I intend to buy some copeods from algae barn probably a month or two before the Anthias. What are those of you who have kept them feeding them and how often? I keep seeing they need to eat a few times a day and it sounds like they don't like pellets.

You should be fine. Your right, Anthias’ do require frequent feedings as they have a fast metabolisms. Frozen mysis or other meaty fair is ideal mixed in with pods Will help keep them healthy. Variety is best!
Lyretails do best either with just a single male or a male with a group of females.

How many times a day do you feed them?

I was thinking 1 male and 2 females.

I have a trio of Lyretails and feed them and all my other fish twice a day. Reef Frenzy is a great food to try because it’s got a little if everything, small and medium sizes bits and chunks of food as well as some random pieces of nori which is great nutrition for your surgeon fish.

I have the same fish you have, with the addition of a few others. I have two Lyretails in a 130 gal with no issues at all. I try to feed twice a day sometimes three times if I can get it in. I feed Rods, mysis and nori. I'm going to try to add three more females later this year. Hopefully I'm successful.

Lyretails are among the easier of the pseudoanthias, though they are a member of the more aggressive Franzia sub genus and do have a tendency to pick each other off. Plenty of space and frequent feedings can help to extend the group.
