Lyretail anthias

These were sold to me as female lyretail anthias from Tonga but aren’t females orange? Trying to figure out if they male or female There’s two in my QT at the moment both the same color they are getting along and eating well


I’m so happy cause I always have bad luck trying to QT lyretail anthias they usually end up with uronema or some other disease and die within a week

Female anthias come in a variety of colors as does anthias in general
Pink, purple and orange are some of the colors

There are definitely two males, do you have a pair or are there more anthias? I have read stories about how it is better to keep them in odd groups to avoid aggressiveness, other people think the opposite saying that there will be aggression between them until finally only the strongest fish is left. I don't know much about anthias but I wish you luck.

that’s what I was afraid of lol currently no anthias in my DT I did have two square anthias but over the past 2 years one died then the other

they have been in QT for about 2 weeks and they aren’t attacking each other

just two anthias in that QT and a unicorn tang the site I ordered from really screwed my order up not 1 thing I asked for

This is a male lyrtail anthias.

If possible try find a group of 6-7 females to put with these guys, then you won’t have too many issues of aggression. Depending on tank size you can go for more but I generally stick to 1 male for 3-4 females when it comes to anthias. I tend to have better luck doing it that way than with “Odd numbers” or “Even numbers”.
