Lyretail Hogfish not doing well

I have a lyretail hogfish that isn't doing well. I just got it a week ago and it's in quarantine I have already treated with kanoplex. I now have General cure and cp in the tank and nothing seems to be helping anyone have a clue.

Can you elaborate? Is the fish just acting lethargic? Not eating, scratching, showing spots??

Well he should be pure white on his back half but had like a red rash. He is swimming is circles and laying in the bottom of the tank.

Ammonia levels. If their is copper in the tank. Your test kit will be wrong, do you have the badge?

No copper in the tank. I do have the badge though

No copper then the test kit should be accurate. I would test for ammonia.

"Red rash" sounds like a bacterial infection.

Too late for antibiotics if he's laying on the bottom, but you could try an antiseptic (acriflavine) bath: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/acriflavine.282887/

Wouldn't the kanoplex have taken care of the bacterial infection?

Not necessarily. Different antibiotics target different bacteria. That's why we often recommend combining antibiotics (e.g. Kanaplex + Metroplex + Furan-2) to widen the spectrum of treatment.

Thanks in the future I will use all three. Bad new when I got home tonight the hog was dead. I just ordered the reef rally. I will definitely work that into my qt process. Just when you think you have all the meds you would ever need to qt you find more. Thanks again

So I was just thinking I have a Pakistan Butterflyfish, Marine Betta and zebra eel in the tank the hog was in. Should I be worried about them getting the infection. They are all acting normal. I already have the general cure and CP in the tank could I add the kanaplex and furan 2 as well?

General Cure and CP are in the tank, you want to add the antibiotics at the same time? If you are going to add the antibiotics I would add the trio that Humble stated above to make sure all infections are covered at once. (Kanaplex, MetroPlex, Furan-2) as for adding them to the tank with CP and General cure, I’m not sure.

Yea that's what I was wandering if it would be safe to add those three is with the other two already in.

I personally would wait & see. Many times a healthy fish is able to overcome/prevent infection via their natural immune system. It's only diseased, malnourished, injured, etc. fish that are susceptible. Your hogfish might have had another problem (something internal?) which lowered his immune system and made him vulnerable to infection.

Ok will do, I have the reef rally on the way so if I see anything ill just give them a bath. So would you just run the cp for the 30 days and if nothing happens then they should all be good to go into the dt?
