Just noticed my male anthias has Popeye and heavy breathing. Tried to grab my phone and snap a pic but he disappeared into the rocks by the time I got back downstairs. If he makes an appearance I will snap a pic. What is the general course of action? Epson salt?

One tablespoon of Epsom Salts (plain USP with no scents added) per 5 gallon of tank water could help reduce the swelling. Can dose one more time in a couple of days.
But I would keep some Erythromycin (aka "Maracyn" - not Maracyn 2) ready. It usually works the best on eye infections.

If you can catch him, a qt with kanaplex and neoplex would be best :)
Aye karumba! Was afraid of that! I just rescaped from the last event. Time to set the qt cleaned out, set back up and get to cracking. Thanks my friend!

Thanks KJ! Not sure if I have that med on hand. I will have to go downstairs and go through med shelf.

If I can't catch it for qt. Epson is DT safe correct?

Agree with everything above ^^^ but the breathing heavy is worth concern. Parasites in the gills: flukes can cause the heavy breathing and there is one type that goes into the eyes and initially you get the Popeye condition. Check for cloudiness of the eye.

Bummer, I'll catch him and plan for qt. I just went through a fw dip, reef rally bath, trifecta and copper all all these guys not long ago. Uhggg

Everything except prazi or GC for flukes? Anything new in the tank in the last 30 days or so?

Nothing new. Just introduced the qt survivors back a couple weeks ago.

Didn't use prazi or GC
Prazi can be a bit rough on "some" fish. GC's prazi is a bit lower in strength (2.0 compared to 2.5) and no oxybispropanol which robs the tank water of O2 + has metro as well. Good product. I still run a small powerhead aimed up actively rippling the water surface and a foam bubble filter even though no oxybis. ;)

Thanks my friend. The store is closed today, I will go and try to find some first thing in the morning. I have the QT drain and cleaning now. :)
