Hello everyone! Recently, my fish have gotten sick with ick and while many of them are responding to the medication at play (Polyplab’s Reef Medic) both of my lyretails seem to be breathing heavy still. I’m hoping tomorrow they show better progress, since it’s only day 2 of treatment and both of them still have very strong appetites. I went to check on them while the lights are off, noticed they’re still breathing heavy and my male is showing “stress stripes”. I can’t get a pic of him, but his color has faded in a stripped fashion going down his spine. If there was no pattern showing, I’d assume brook. But that’s really not the case. Is this common?

Are your lights off, and was it sleeping?

My lyretail will turn almost translucent at night when sleeping. Looses nearly all his color, and has a whiteish stripe down his body.
Wow! I didn’t know that. Yes, lights were off and he is sound asleep.

Perfectly normal then.

You want to see something that really looks dead at night, get a mandarin goby. I couldn't tell you how many times when I was new in the hobby I thought that little sucker was dead.
LOL I can imagine someone just standing there and staring at the goby in the middle of the night. This hobby sure knows how to keep you on edge ;Hilarious
