The colours on this are sick
But please dont tell my girlfriend ...ooh bought a massive Mexican turbo snail today ...never acclimated him just threw him straight in the tank ....hope he does ok ...read later that they are very sensitive too high nitrate .

First 2kg sand back in ....what a difference with how much light is bounced back ...
Dont really notice till you put it back ..but it's been so long since I had a white sand bed...5-6 months at least .

Ya know...I never thought about the light being bounced back! That might be exactly why I prefer sand.

I wonder how long I need too dose silicates for ....down too my last bottle again ....got a lot of hair algae...but at least my tuxedo urchin is happy ...hes doing an amazing job ...I've got reef flux ...but to be honest I'm reluctant too use it ..I'd rather keep my urchin happy and busy ...been dosing special blend bacteria ...that seems too improve things in the tank ...
Still cant get my nitrates down any ...have been dosing dsr carbon ...on the max dosage ..water changes 1/3 ... nitrates always at 50 ....now reduced feeding as well ...but it never lowers ...

I've never ran one, but maybe you could try a sulfur reactor? Tank still looks good!

I ran a sulfur denitrator on my last 2 tanks to combat high nitrates and it did great at lowering mine. One FOWLR tank was well over 160 and brought it down to 20...

Out of curiosity, do you trust your NO3 test kit? Have you ever tested it with another kit?

I use a saliferts for no3 ....I got my lfs too test my water not so long ago with same results ....and it's a fairly new test kit ...

Tank is looking good today ....almost no dinos ....and even the hair algae has died back alot ...and nearly all corals are happy ...
